During the holiday season, it's nice to give a little luxury to your dog as well. This warm drink infused with Christmas flavors combines the refreshing taste of fresh ginger with a creamy base of coconut milk and Greek yogurt. Fresh whipped cream and a whole grain ginger cookie turn it into a sweet treat for special occasions. Ginger, in small doses, is generally well tolerated and can offer a digestive effect.
Ingredients
For the puppuccino (1 small cup)
- 120 ml of unsweetened coconut milk (carton version)
- 120 ml of 2% Greek yogurt
- 7 ml (1/2 tablespoon) of chopped fresh ginger
- 60 ml of fresh whipping cream
- A pinch of ground ginger
- Natural colored sprinkles (optional)
For the ginger cookies
- 180 g of whole wheat flour
- 180 g of all-purpose flour
- 6 ml (just over 1 teaspoon) of ground ginger
- 3 large eggs
- 110 ml of water (80 ml + an additional 30 ml as needed)
Procedure
- For the cookies, preheat the oven to 175 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the two flours and the ground ginger.
- Add the eggs and 80 ml of water and mix until a soft dough forms. If necessary, incorporate more water a tablespoon at a time.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface, briefly knead, and roll out to a thickness of half a centimeter.
- Use cookie cutters to shape the cookies and place them on the baking sheet, spacing them 2 cm apart.
- Bake for about 12 minutes, until the edges start to brown (1-2 minutes longer for a crunchier texture).
- Let the cookies cool on a rack.
- For the drink, blend together the coconut milk, Greek yogurt, and fresh ginger until smooth.
- Whip the fresh cream with beaters until stiff peaks form.
- Pour the puppuccino into a small cup, top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of ground ginger, and any natural sprinkles. Decorate with a ginger cookie.
Notes
For dogs sensitive to dairy, choose plant-based yogurt and omit the cream or replace it with a coconut-based plant version.
Storage
Serve the drink immediately after preparation. The cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week.
