Time ~60 min
Portions 4

When roasting vegetables for dinner, why not set some aside for your dog? This recipe is designed to smartly reuse leftovers. Ground beef, sweet potato, oats, and plenty of leafy greens make the stew rich in protein, fiber, and nutrients. It can be cooked in a skillet or baked as a meatloaf.

Ingredients

  • 180 g of oats
  • 150 g of sweet potato
  • 60 g of fresh spinach
  • 57 g of kale
  • 5 g of parsley
  • 420 ml of water
  • 567 g of ground beef
  • 80 ml of essential nutrient mix for dogs (about 43 g)

Instructions

  1. Place diced sweet potato, oats, spinach, kale, and parsley in the blender and finely chop.
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef until it is almost done.
  3. Add the chopped vegetables and pour in the water.
  4. Incorporate the essential nutrient mix and blend well.
  5. Cook for about 15 minutes, until the water is absorbed.
  6. Let cool completely before serving or portioning for the freezer.

Notes

Alternatively, you can bake the mixture in the oven at 175 degrees for about an hour in a loaf pan, until an internal temperature of 70 degrees is reached. Yield of about 1134 g, formulated for adult maintenance dogs.

Storage

It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 90 days.
