Heart-Shaped Beetroot Cookies for Dogs

Heart-shaped cookies, naturally pink thanks to the beetroot, made with oat flour, peanut butter, apple, and honey. A romantic and healthy surprise to gift your dog.

Time ~25 min
Portions 30

A perfect recipe to pamper your dog with homemade cookies naturally colored with beetroot powder. The vibrant pink comes from a superfood rich in vitamins and minerals beneficial for the immune system, not artificial coloring. It's a simple preparation to do together in the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 240 g of oat flour (plus more for rolling out the dough)
  • 80 ml of 100% natural peanut butter (without sugar, salt, or xylitol)
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 120 ml of unsweetened applesauce
  • 3 tablespoons of organic honey
  • 60 ml of organic beetroot powder

Procedure

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 120 g of oat flour, peanut butter, egg, applesauce, and honey, and mix until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  3. Add the beetroot powder and knead by hand, then gradually add the remaining flour. The dough should be non-sticky; if needed, add a little flour at a time.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 6 mm and cut out heart-shaped cookies with a cookie cutter.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes; if the cookies are larger, extend the baking time to 12-14 minutes. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

The yield varies based on the size of the cookie cutters. Remember that these are treat cookies: do not give them all at once.

Storage

They can be kept at room temperature for 5 days or in the freezer for 90 days.
