A canine version of the classic hiking mix: sweet potato and dried apple, plain popcorn, and liver jerky come together in a crunchy, aromatic jar. A practical idea for walks, training sessions, or a different type of snack. One jar, a thousand possibilities.
Ingredients
- 1 sweet potato
- 1 apple
- 50 g of popcorn (about 1/4 cup of kernels)
- 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil (5 ml)
- 50 g of already dried liver jerky
Instructions
- Prepare the fruit and vegetables: wash and cut the apple and sweet potato into small bite-sized pieces.
- Dehydrate in the oven: spread the pieces on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 95 degrees for 3-4 hours, until completely dried.
- Prepare the popcorn: in a pot, heat the oil, add the kernels, cover, and gently shake until they stop popping. Let cool and remove any unpopped kernels to avoid choking hazards.
- Prepare the jerky: cut the liver jerky into small bite-sized pieces.
- Combine everything: once the ingredients are cool, layer the sweet potato, apple, popcorn, and jerky in a jar or airtight container.
- Serve to your dog as a special snack or reward during training.
Notes
The popcorn should be served plain, without salt, butter, or other seasonings. The liver jerky must be free of additives: choose single-ingredient products or make it at home. Serve a small handful as an occasional snack, not as a substitute for meals.
Storage
In an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 weeks.
