Homemade Cod and Vegetable Stew for Dogs

A stew made with cod, potatoes, green beans, and peas designed for dogs. Rich in omega-3s and lean protein, it is a great alternative to meat, especially for those with intolerances.

Time ~25 min
Portions 10

When a dog does not tolerate beef or chicken well, fish becomes a valuable protein source. This cod stew is simple, light, and rich in omega-3 and essential amino acids. The vegetables provide carbohydrates and fiber, while the omega oil completes the meal. Make sure to use well-deboned cod.

Ingredients

  • 620 g of deboned cod fillets
  • 720 ml of diced potatoes (about 360 g)
  • 360 ml of green beans (about 188 g)
  • 360 ml of peas (about 240 g)
  • 480 ml of water
  • 80 ml of essential nutrient mix for dogs (about 43 g)
  • 120 ml of omega oil for dogs (about 64 g)

Procedure

  1. Heat 4 tablespoons of omega oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the cod fillets and cook for a few minutes on each side until the flesh is white and flakes easily with a fork.
  3. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In a blender, finely chop the potatoes, green beans, and peas.
  5. Transfer the chopped vegetables to the skillet with the water and cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
  6. When the vegetables are soft, combine the fish, the nutrient mix, and the remaining omega oil.
  7. Shred the cod into the mixture and stir until you get a homogeneous stew.
  8. Let it cool and serve.
