Oven-Baked Turkey Sausage for Dogs

Oven-baked turkey sausage for dogs: a simple recipe that's easy to slice and store, perfect for picnics, outings, and trips with your four-legged friend.

Time ~240 min
Portions 15

Enjoy warm days and long weekends with your dog by serving a meal that's easy to transport and enjoy in any situation. This baked turkey sausage is easy to prepare in advance, slices like homemade deli meat, and is perfect to take with you during picnics, outings, or visits to friends. Even the most selective dogs won’t be able to resist.

Ingredients

  • 453 g of lean ground turkey
  • 113 g of dried vegetable mix for dogs (3/4 cup, about 4 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon of omega oil for dogs (15 ml)

Procedure

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, dried vegetable mix, and omega oil. Mix thoroughly until you achieve a uniform mixture.
  2. Pour the mixture in the center of a sheet of aluminum foil and shape it into a sausage, wrapping it tightly.
  3. Transfer to the refrigerator and let it rest for 24 hours.
  4. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Remove the sausage from the fridge, place it on a baking sheet, and poke the aluminum in several places with a fork.
  5. Bake for about 1 hour, until fully cooked through.
  6. Allow to cool completely, then remove the aluminum and slice. Serve to your dog, possibly with a few slices of cucumber or natural sauerkraut on the side.

Notes

You can replace the turkey with other lean ground meats like chicken, beef, lamb, pork, or venison. If using red meats, replace the omega oil with extra virgin olive oil. Serve portions according to your dog's size and caloric needs.

Storage

In the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2-3 days, or in the freezer for up to 60 days.
