This pâté combines the irresistible aroma of tuna with the creaminess of sweet potato, which binds the mixture and adds a delicate fiber. It is designed as a topper: a teaspoon on the bowl makes the meal more inviting for picky cats. The sweet potato should be used in small amounts, as the cat is a carnivore and primarily needs animal proteins.
Ingredients
- 80 g of natural tuna, well-drained
- 1 tablespoon of boiled and mashed sweet potato
- 1-2 tablespoons of water
Method
- Boil or steam a piece of sweet potato, then mash it with a fork.
- Drain the natural tuna very well.
- Blend the tuna and sweet potato with the water, adding it gradually, until you achieve a smooth and spreadable pâté.
- Serve a teaspoon as a topper on the meal, or spread a thin layer on a lick mat.
Notes
Only natural tuna, never in oil or salted. The sweet potato is an accent, not a main ingredient: keep it to a minimum. Tuna is tasty but low in taurine and should be alternated with meat, not used every day. Integrative topper, not a complete meal.
Storage
In the refrigerator in a closed jar for up to 2 days. It can be frozen in small portions in silicone molds for up to 2 months.
