A low-calorie meal with lean chicken, zucchini, and green beans. A low-carb recipe, ideal for dogs losing weight or overweight.

Time ~30 min
Portions 4

The light meal of chicken, zucchini, and green beans is a recipe designed for dogs that need to lose weight or maintain their ideal weight with a lower-calorie diet. The volume of the meal is ensured by the vegetables, while the chicken provides lean protein without being heavy.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of skinless chicken breast
  • 250 g of zucchini
  • 200 g of green beans
  • 50 g of white rice
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 bunch of fresh parsley

Procedure

  1. Cook the rice in unsalted water following the times indicated on the package.
  2. Boil the chicken breast in unsalted water for 12 minutes, then shred it finely.
  3. Wash the green beans, trim the ends, and cut them into 1 cm pieces.
  4. Wash and chop the zucchini into cubes.
  5. Steam the green beans and zucchini for 10 minutes, until they are tender but not too soft.
  6. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients, add the EVO oil and parsley, and mix well.

Notes

Zucchini and green beans are very low-calorie vegetables and rich in water, perfect for satisfying your dog without adding sugars. The amount of rice is intentionally reduced. This meal should be integrated into a weight management plan that also includes portion control and regular physical activity. Check the plan with the veterinarian.
