Chicken Liver Mousse for Cats

A velvety chicken liver mousse packed with taurine, iron, and vitamin A — a rich, concentrated topper to use in very small amounts to elevate your cat's meals.

Time ~15 min
Portions 12

Liver is one of the most nutritious foods you can offer your cat: it's rich in taurine, iron, B vitamins, and an abundance of vitamin A. Precisely because it is so concentrated, it should be used in small amounts, as a meal enhancer. This smooth, fragrant mousse makes a powerful topper — just a few grams are enough to make your cat's bowl utterly irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 100 g fresh chicken livers
  • 120 ml water

Method

  1. Rinse the chicken livers and remove any traces of fat or connective tissue.
  2. Cook them in water over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, until no longer pink inside.
  3. Leave to cool slightly, then blend the livers with a little of the cooking liquid until you obtain a smooth mousse.
  4. Serve half a teaspoon on top of your cat's usual meal as a topper, or spread a thin layer as a treat.

Notes

Pay attention to portion size: liver is extremely high in vitamin A, and over time an excess can be harmful. Use it as an occasional small topper (1–2 times a week), not as a main meal. Always cook the liver thoroughly. Introduce it gradually to avoid loose stools. It is not a substitute for a complete and balanced diet.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 days. It freezes very well in single-portion moulds for up to 3 months: simply thaw one portion as needed.
