Baked Chicken and Pumpkin Meatballs

Soft baked meatballs with chicken, pumpkin, and oats. A simple recipe to prepare in advance, perfect as a meal or hearty snack.

Time ~50 min
Portions 6

Chicken and pumpkin meatballs baked in the oven are a practical solution for those who want to prepare their dog's meals in advance. The pumpkin adds softness and natural sweetness, while the oats bind the mixture without the need for salty breadcrumbs.

Ingredients

  • 300 g of ground chicken (breast and thigh, without skin)
  • 200 g of cleaned pumpkin
  • 60 g of oats
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 bunch of chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C in static mode.
  2. Cut the pumpkin into cubes and steam it for 12-15 minutes, until it is soft. Mash it with a fork and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, combine ground chicken, pumpkin puree, oats, egg, parsley, and EVO oil.
  4. Mix with your hands until you obtain a homogeneous mixture. If it is too soft, add another 10-15 g of oats.
  5. Form meatballs of about 25 g each (the size of a walnut) and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake in the oven for 22-25 minutes, until lightly golden. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Oats are a grain that is well tolerated by most dogs and rich in soluble fibers that support intestinal health. Pumpkin is particularly suitable in case of sensitive intestines. These meatballs can be served as a complete meal paired with a side of cooked vegetables, or as treats during training.

Storage

In the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days. They freeze well for 2 months, placed separately on a tray before being stored in a bag.
