Time ~45 min
Portions 4

The chicken, brown rice, and zucchini dish is one of the most balanced homemade meals for a healthy adult dog. The lean proteins of chicken breast, the slow-release carbohydrates of brown rice, and the gentle fibers of zucchini create a meal that is easy to digest and suitable for daily use.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 120 g of brown rice
  • 150 g of zucchini
  • 80 g of carrots
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of extra virgin olive oil
  • 500 ml of water
  • 1 bunch of chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Wash the brown rice under running water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil and cook the brown rice for about 35 minutes, until fully cooked.
  3. In the meantime, cut the chicken breast into even cubes and boil it in unsalted water for 10-12 minutes.
  4. Wash and cut the zucchini and carrots into small cubes, then steam them for 8 minutes until tender.
  5. Drain the rice and mix it with the chicken and vegetables in a large bowl.
  6. Add the EVO oil and chopped parsley, mix well, and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Chicken is a highly digestible lean protein source, ideal for maintaining muscle mass. Brown rice provides steady energy without spikes in blood sugar, while zucchini adds moisture and gentle fibers. Serve the meal at room temperature, never hot. It is suitable for the main meal, once or twice a day depending on the dog's needs.

Storage

It can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days. It can be frozen in single portions for up to 2 months.
