Cucumber and Melted Cheddar Dog Snack

A creative idea for a snack: crispy cucumber wrapped in melted cheddar. Ready in just a few minutes, perfect as an extra-delicious treat or a pocket for pills.

Time ~3 min
Portions 14

This quick recipe comes from an idea that went viral online. The cucumber offers hydration, antioxidants, and vitamins, while the melted cheddar transforms it into an irresistible bite. Great as a high-value reward during training or to hide a pill.

Ingredients

  • 3 slices of mild cheddar (medium thickness)
  • 1 cucumber, cut vertically

Instructions

  1. Place the cheddar slices on a plate and microwave for 10-23 seconds, until the cheese bubbles and becomes fluid.
  2. Cut the cucumber lengthwise, to the same size as the cheese slice.
  3. Let the cheddar cool for a minute, then wrap it well around the cucumber.
  4. Allow it to set and cut into small pieces suitable for your dog.

Notes

Use mild cheddar, not aged, because it is lower in fat. You can also use melted cheese alone as a pill pocket. Offer in moderation, in small amounts.

Storage

In the refrigerator in an airtight container for 5-7 days.
