A natural and sweet apple sauce, made without added sugars or preservatives. Perfect as a healthy treat, rich in antioxidants and gentle on your dog's digestion.

Time ~30 min
Portions 8

A simple and genuine recipe for preparing a completely natural apple sauce for your dog. Made only with fresh apples and water, without additives, it’s ideal for adding to meals, spreading on lick mats, or using in homemade treat mixes.

Ingredients

  • 900 g of apples (about 4-5 medium), cleaned and cut into rough pieces
  • 80-120 ml of water

Procedure

  1. Wash the apples well, remove the core, and cut them into uniformly sized pieces. The skin can remain.
  2. Place the cut apples and water in a large pot. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Reduce to low heat, cover, and cook for 15-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples become tender.
  4. Remove from heat. For a chunky consistency, mash with a fork. For a smooth sauce, use an immersion blender.
  5. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Choose sweet and low-acid varieties like Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp. Avoid very acidic apples if the dog is sensitive. Also suitable for puppies in small portions.

Storage

Store in the refrigerator for about 7 days or freeze in silicone molds or ice cube trays for up to 2 months for single portions ready to use.
