Time ~14 min
Portions 6

A special breakfast and a nice surprise for our four-legged friends as well. These pancakes replace sugar with the natural sweetness of ripe banana and grated apple, while eggs make the batter soft and protein-rich. No butter, no syrups: just a few simple ingredients for a breakfast that your dog will love in small quantities.

Ingredients

  • 240 g of mashed banana (about 2 medium bananas)
  • 40 g of grated apple
  • 2 large eggs
  • 40 g of whole wheat flour
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of baking powder
  • Unsweetened whipped cream for decoration (optional)
  • Natural colored sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mashed banana, grated apple, and eggs, and mix well.
  2. In another small bowl, mix the whole wheat flour and baking powder.
  3. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and gently combine until a soft batter forms.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it.
  5. Pour about 45 ml (3 tablespoons) of batter for each pancake and cook for about 2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the pancakes to a plate and continue until the batter is used up.
  7. To serve, stack the pancakes and top with a dollop of whipped cream and a few natural colored sprinkles, if desired.

Notes

The banana and apple provide sweetness without the need for sugar. You can change the recipe by substituting the apple with grated sweet potato or adding a teaspoon of natural peanut butter. Never use chocolate or sugary ingredients.

Storage

The pancakes can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. They can be quickly heated in the microwave or toaster, or served cold.
