Tuna Treats for Cats (2 Ingredients)

Crispy tuna snacks with only two ingredients: natural tuna and egg. Fragrant and protein-rich treats, perfect for playtime or cat training.

Time ~20 min
Portions 20

These little cookies have only two ingredients and an irresistible aroma for cats. The tuna provides protein and a strong smell that attracts even the pickiest kitties, while the egg binds the mixture and adds nutrients. They are treat snacks, to be given in small amounts: ideal as a reward during playtime or to create a moment of connection.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of natural tuna (80 g drained), with no added salt
  • 1 whole egg

Instructions

  1. Drain the natural tuna very well, eliminating all the liquid.
  2. Blend the tuna and egg until you achieve a thick and homogeneous paste.
  3. Spread the mixture in small mounds on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, or roll it out thin and cut it into squares after cooking.
  4. Bake in the oven at 180 °C for about 12-15 minutes, until the cookies are golden and dry.
  5. Let cool completely: they will become crunchier.

Notes

Use only natural tuna, never oil-packed or salted. Tuna is tasty but should not become a daily habit: it contains little taurine compared to meat and, in excess, can bring too much mercury. Offer these cookies as an occasional treat, not as a meal. The snack rule: no more than 10% of the cat's daily calories.

Storage

Keep them in a closed glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to 2 months. If they soften, place them in the oven for a few minutes to make them crunchy again.
