Oatmeal, Apple, and Banana Cookies

Small baked cookies with oatmeal, apple, and banana, without sugar or butter. A light and fragrant snack, perfect as an occasional treat.

Time ~40 min
Portions 12

Oatmeal, apple, and banana cookies are a light and fragrant snack, ideal as an occasional treat during the day or training. The natural sweetness of the fruit eliminates the need for added sugars, while the oatmeal provides a pleasantly crunchy texture.

Ingredients

  • 120 g of rolled oats
  • 1 ripe banana (about 100 g) mashed
  • 1 medium apple (150 g) grated, cored and seeded
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 °C.
  2. Peel the banana and mash it with a fork in a bowl.
  3. Wash the apple, carefully remove the core and seeds, then grate it using a medium grater.
  4. Add the rolled oats and the EVO oil to the fruit mixture, and mix until you achieve a compact dough.
  5. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, so that the oats absorb the liquids.
  6. Form small discs of about 15 g and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, pressing them down slightly.
  7. Bake for 22-25 minutes, until golden. Turn off the oven and let the cookies cool inside to make them crunchier.

Notes

Bananas and apples are fruits that are generally well tolerated by dogs, rich in potassium and fiber. It is essential to remove the core and seeds from the apple as they contain small amounts of amygdalin. These cookies are an occasional snack and not a meal substitute: limit to a maximum of 1-2 cookies per day for a 10 kg dog.

Storage

In an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days. They store better in the refrigerator for 14 days.
