"Grown-ups and cats hate each other." True or false? False! With method and a few rules, cats and dogs can coexist perfectly, even becoming inseparable friends. Here are the 10 golden rules.

1. The introduction is everything

Never present a cat and dog by shoving them in front of each other. The first impression is crucial.

Correct procedure:

  • Day 1-3: cat in a separate room, dog in the rest of the house. They sniff each other under the door.
  • Day 4-7: exchange of scents (blankets, cushions).
  • Day 8-14: visual meetings through a baby gate, in your presence.
  • Day 15+: free meetings, supervised, initially brief.

2. Ideal age

Puppies accept new companions much better. Ideally:
