The Briard is one of the oldest French herding dogs: fluffy, very sweet, and extremely intelligent. Mentioned in medieval texts, loved by Charlemagne and Napoleon, today it is a noble breed that is still not well known in Italy.
Origins
Documented in France since 1200, it takes its name from the Brie region. Historically used to drive flocks of sheep and as a farm guard. Among its admirers: Charlemagne, Napoleon, Lafayette (who brought specimens to the USA).

Appearance
- Height: 56-69 cm at the withers.
- Weight: 23-40 kg.
- Coat: long, wavy, dense. Colors: black, fawn, gray.
- Feature: double dewclaw on the hind legs (as required by the standard!).
