Frozen Carrots in Bone Broth for Dogs

A refreshing snack for dogs: carrots simmered in chicken bone broth and then frozen. Just two ingredients for a long-lasting, nutritious chew.

Time ~125 min
Portions 6

Are you looking for a homemade chew that will keep your dog occupied and is also healthy? These whole carrots simmered in chicken bone broth and then frozen are the perfect solution. Carrots provide natural fiber and beta-carotene, which are beneficial for vision and the intestines, while the bone broth offers collagen and minerals to support joints and hydration.

Ingredients

  • 6 medium-sized carrots, with the ends trimmed
  • about 1 liter of chicken wing bone broth (or other bone broth, as long as it contains no onion or garlic)

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends of the carrots without peeling them completely, keeping the whole shape.
  2. Pour the bone broth into a large pot, add the carrots, and simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours, until they are tender but still firm.
  3. Remove the carrots from the broth and let them cool completely on a plate.
  4. Place the cooled carrots in a freezer-safe container and freeze until they are solid.
  5. Serve the frozen carrots to your dog as a chew snack, always under supervision.

Notes

Always check that the broth contains no salt, onion, or garlic. Frozen carrots are particularly enjoyable for puppies who are teething, but they should always be offered under supervision. Any leftover broth can be strained and frozen in cubes to enhance meals.

Storage

They can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.
