A few pantry ingredients and a little patience: here are the peanut butter and honey cookies that your dog will be eager to try. They are crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and are perfect for being shaped into a thousand forms with cookie cutters. Ideal as treats during training sessions or as a little daily indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 120 g of natural peanut butter (half a cup, without salt or xylitol)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey (30 ml)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of fine salt (1 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder (2 g)
  • 210 g of oat flour (1 cup and 3/4)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the peanut butter and honey until you achieve a smooth cream.
  3. Add salt, baking powder, and oat flour, working the mixture until you obtain a compact dough.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 6 mm and cut out the cookies with your favorite cookie cutters.
  5. Place them on the baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden.
  6. Allow to cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

Ensure that the peanut butter does not contain xylitol, a toxic sweetener for dogs. You can substitute honey with maple syrup in equal amounts. To make mini training cookies, reduce the size of the cookie cutter.

Storage

In an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or in the freezer for longer storage.
