Want to enrich your dog's food with a little concentrate of nutrients? This mixed seed topping can be prepared in just a few minutes and turns into a fine powder ready to be sprinkled on any meal. It provides omega-3, fiber, antioxidants, and minerals beneficial for the coat, digestion, and immune system.
Ingredients
- 30 g of pumpkin seeds
- 15 g of hulled hemp seeds
- 50 g of flaxseeds
- 50 g of sunflower seeds
Procedure
- Pour all the seeds into the bowl of a mini blender or a clean coffee grinder.
- Blend in pulses until you achieve a fine powder but not overly processed.
- Transfer to an airtight glass jar and store in a cool place away from light.
- Add half a teaspoon to a teaspoon to your dog's meals, depending on their size.
Notes
The seeds need to be ground to be properly absorbed: whole shells would pass undigested. Start with small doses and gradually increase. For smaller dogs, 2-3 g per meal is sufficient; for larger dogs, you can go up to 5 g.
Storage
In an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months, or in the refrigerator for 3 months, in the freezer for up to 6 months. Always use a dry teaspoon for measuring.
