Fiber Snacks for Dogs with Digestive Issues

Frozen treats rich in fiber and probiotics for dogs with diarrhea or constipation. Psyllium, slippery elm, and kefir work synergistically to rebalance the gut.

Time ~185 min
Portions 4

When a dog experiences irregular bowel phases, a natural solution can come from a few targeted ingredients. Psyllium absorbs excess water or softens stools as needed, while slippery elm gently lubricates the digestive tract. Kefir adds beneficial probiotics to the gut microbiota.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon of psyllium powder
  • 1 teaspoon of slippery elm bark powder
  • 240 ml of sheep or cow kefir

Procedure

  1. In a bowl or blender, mix psyllium, slippery elm, and kefir until you achieve a smooth mixture.
  2. Pour the liquid into your preferred silicone molds.
  3. Place in the freezer for at least 3 hours.
  4. Serve as a treat or as a food topper.
