Crunchy Carrot and Parmesan Snacks for Dogs

A homemade treat made with thinly sliced carrots and freshly grated parmesan, baked until crunchy and irresistible for your four-legged friend.

Time ~35 min
Portions 25

These bites are a great choice to surprise your dog with a genuine and healthy snack. Thinly sliced carrots are coated with grated parmesan cheese, then baked until they achieve a crispy exterior and tender interior. A simple recipe, with few natural ingredients and minimal preparation: perfect for those who want to offer an authentic and nutritious treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized carrots
  • 15 ml of extra virgin olive oil
  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese, to taste

Procedure

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the carrots thinly, creating uniform sticks or rounds.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil over the carrot slices and mix gently.
  4. Dip each piece into the freshly grated parmesan, pressing lightly to ensure it sticks well.
  5. Arrange the coated carrots on the baking sheet with the cheese side facing down.
  6. Bake for about 25 minutes, until the carrots are tender and the cheese is slightly golden.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

Parmesan contains less lactose than other cheeses, so it is generally tolerable for most dogs. Cooked carrots are safe for dogs and provide fiber and beta-carotene. If you prefer a dairy-free option, you can bake the carrots alone. Offer one or two pieces at a time based on your dog's size: snacks should not exceed 10% of the daily caloric intake.

Storage

Store the bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Consume within a few days to maintain optimal crispness.
