Delicate Chicken and Pumpkin Cream for Puppies

A velvety cream of chicken and pumpkin designed for puppies starting from weaning. Extremely soft texture and high digestibility.

Time ~35 min
Portions 5

The delicate chicken and pumpkin cream is a recipe designed for the first solid meals of the puppy, starting from weaning (2-3 months) onwards. The consistency is intentionally creamy to facilitate the transition from mother's milk to solid food, while the chosen ingredients are among the most easily digestible.

Ingredients

  • 180 g of skinless chicken breast
  • 250 g of cleaned pumpkin
  • 50 g of white rice
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of extra virgin olive oil
  • 500 ml of water

Procedure

  1. Cut the pumpkin into cubes and place it in a pot with the rice and 500 ml of water.
  2. Cook over medium-low heat for 25 minutes, until the rice is very soft and the pumpkin can be mashed with a spoon.
  3. Meanwhile, boil the chicken breast in unsalted water for 12 minutes.
  4. Shred the chicken very finely with a fork or knife.
  5. Blend the rice and pumpkin mixture with an immersion blender until you achieve a smooth cream.
  6. Add the shredded chicken and the EVO oil, mix and let it cool slightly.

Notes

Pumpkin is rich in beta-carotene, soluble fiber, and potassium, and is particularly gentle on the puppy's digestive system. Well-cooked rice provides quickly available energy. This recipe is ideal for the first months of weaning and can also be offered during the transition between commercial and homemade feeding, always under the supervision of the veterinarian.

Storage

In the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 days. It can be frozen in small single portions for up to 1 month.
