The Australian Mist
The Australian Mist is one of the youngest cat breeds in the world and the only one entirely created in Australia. It was specifically selected to be the "perfect family cat," combining sweetness, robustness, and a unique coat with a "misty" pattern.
Origins
The breed was developed in 1976 by Australian breeder Dr. Truda Straede, who aimed to create an "ideal" cat for family life, even with children and in urban settings. By crossing Burmese, Abyssinian, and domestic cats, she achieved a breed with a balanced character. It was officially recognized in Australia in 1986.
